Happy, happy, happy!

I got my first comment!

This is the first time I have EVER put my writing out there for people to read, and it's terrifying for me. I see that people are looking at the page, but that doesn't mean those people are actually reading it. So to find out that someone not only read it, but commented as well was incredible for me. And it was a good comment, too!!

It gave me a rush just to get the e-mail telling me there was a comment, because it meant that someone had read it. Someone had read something I wrote... and they liked it.

It may seem like I'm totally over-reacting to one little comment that was barely a sentence long, but it's a big thing for me. Thank-you to that person for giving me such a confidence boost! And thank-you to whoever - if anyone - who reads my posts! Hopefully they will lead to more in the future!

Thank-you so much!

  1. Here is another comment email for you! :-)

I had a quick look at some of the posts, and they look good so far, but I wondered if they were all part of a longer story. If so, I'd obviously prefer to read it in order. Should I start with the oldest post and work towards the most recent?

    1. Hi!! The characters are all in a proper story, yeah. I'm working on a book series with the guys in these prompts that will hopefully turn into something, but the prompts themselves aren't really in any particular order.
Thanks for the comment and the question! :)

  2. I've read them all now and they're very good! I particularly liked:

"The creature stretched and wiggled as if it was trying to get comfortable. Like when you get new jeans and have to fiddle about to get them in a good position."

I felt as though the creature was enjoying itself, which made it interesting and real.

    1. It feels weird for you to say that, because I never thought I'd let anyone read what I've written, and it feels so good that you think it's good!
It gives me so much confidence to continue the actual book, and hopefully I'll work up the courage to make them into an actual physical thing instead of posts on a blog.
I'm going to try and post more, so I hope that you'll check back and keep up with my posts and keep giving feedback!

    2. Yes I'll check back, and let me know how the book goes.

I've been writing too... I've put some short stories at https://www.chown.org.uk/writing/ and I'd be interested to know what you think. I've also got a couple of longer ones that I'm hoping to put on Amazon at some point.

  3. Hi!!! I've read the stories on your blog, and I think they're really good! I tried to comment on them but couldn't see a option for it. Anyway, I love the ideas you have. They're so interesting and I'd love to see how they played out over a longer story. The work on your blog seems a bit rushed, but I think that's just because it's obviously being fit into a small space...

    1. Apart from that I really enjoyed your work and can't wait to see what else you produce!!

    2. I'm glad you liked them! You're right, there's no way to post comments—I might add that if a lot of people start reading them.

I go to a writing group, and I wrote those stories to read out during the sessions. Because we don't have a lot of time, there was a limit of a thousand words for each story. That's probably the reason why they feel a bit rushed; if you actually counted up you'd find that they all have something like 998 words. :-)

If you like I'll get you a free copy of my longer stories when they go on Amazon. (I'm intending to offer it free to anyone I've talked to personally, as there's no cost to me in making copies of an ebook.)

    3. I've put the first of my longer stories on Amazon (link).

I'm happy to give you a free copy, but I realised that it's difficult because you blog anonymously. There are often good reasons for anonymity, so I will never ask who you really are. At the same time, it makes it hard to give you the free copy I promised. I could send you the price in Bitcoin I suppose, but perhaps that's too much trouble!
